Scott Walsh
Head Coach
Scott has 30 years of rowing experience, along with more than a decade of coaching experience. As a rower at Yale University, Potomac Boat Club, and San Diego Rowing Club, Scott has raced at U.S. Nationals, U.S. Olympic Trials, the Head of the Charles, and the Henley Royal Regatta. Scott coached novice men’s crew at George Mason University and middle school rowing for SDRC. He has learned from some of the best coaches in the country, including SDSU alum Glenn Schweighardt and SDRC’s Pat Kington. He is very excited to work with SDSU’s rowers, coaches and alumni to develop the size, strength and speed of SDSU’s rowing program. Scott invites any Aztec alumni to join the team for workouts on the ergs, in the weight room, or on the water, and looks forward to seeing SDSU alumni at the spring races.
Bernard Aparicio
Assistant Coach. Head Coach Fall 2024
Coach Bernie began his rowing journey at San Diego State University, where he competed from 2011 to 2016. After graduation, Bernie embarked on a professional career with TYLIN International. However, his passion for rowing led him to put his engineering career on hold and pursue rowing professionally with Vesper in Philadelphia. Despite narrowly missing team selection for the lightweight 2x, Bernie entered the open weight 1x trials and placed 9th among the fastest single scullers in the U.S.
Tracy Falkenhal
Assistant Coach
Tracy’s 41 year adventure in rowing began at Berkeley High before navigating through Boston University, the S.F.Bay Area, Coeur de Alene and Austin TX, and has included memberships in both Chinook and Endeavor traveling teams. Tracy’s professional career includes symphony musician, National Guard, firefighter/paramedic, pro bodybuilder and personal trainer. Recognizing the opportunities afforded such a diverse background, Tracy blended disciplines together resulting in her Level 3 coaching style. Tracy has taken gold at UK & Canadian Henley’s, FISA Worlds, and Head of the Charles. She specializes in coaching U23 & High Performance athletes.

Jack rowed for SDSU from 2016-19 and served as president from 2018-19. Graduating SDSU with an MIS degree, his day job is in corporate sales. He is excited to work with the athletes and help them reach their full potential on and off the water, as well as helping the program reach new heights.
