Dear Aztec Rowing Team Supporters,
I am excited to share with you an update on our recent race and other team activities. Over the weekend of April 1st and 2nd, we competed in the 50th anniversary of the San Diego Crew Classic at Mission Bay San Diego.
In the Men’s Varsity 8+ event, our team finished the heat in 6th place with a time of 7:17.209. This placement led us to the 2nd final, where we proudly finished 3rd with an time of 7:19.697. You can find the full results of the race here: Results

After the races concluded on Sunday, our team members showed their dedication by helping clean up the buoys from the race course. It was a challenging task, but we managed to complete it before dark.
As we look to improve from this weekend, we are eager to participate in our next race on April 8th – The Gruenberg Cup. The race will take place at the Port of LA with races beginning at 8am. We currently have our Varsity 8+, Novice 8+, Varsity 4+, and Novice 4+ competing. This long-held tradition between SDSU, LBSU, and USC has seen us hold onto the cup since 2014, and we are determined to continue our winning streak.
Additionally, we held our annual team dinner and awards ceremony, where we celebrated the hard work and dedication of our rowers. I am proud to announce the following award recipients:
H. Del Beekley – Most Dedicated Varsity Rower – Winner: Tanner Harvey
Andy Olson – Most Dedicated Novice Rower – Winner: Vinni Mini
Thank you for your continued support of our team. We hope to see you at the Gruenberg Cup and look forward to sharing more of our successes with you throughout the season.
Warm regards,
Aztec Rowing
