Fall Recruiting

The fall recruitment of athletes from the campus population is now underway at San Diego State. During the next couple of weeks, we will hold several Organizational Meetings during which the interested student-athlete (YOU) can find out about the sport of crew in general = about the great traditions involved in American rowing, its “shirt-betting” dynamic, the Cup Races involved, and the fact that the opportunity to begin a sport while at college ……….. at the age of 18 or older ……… and compete for one’s University as an intercollegiate athlete, after a very short period practice time, is absolutely unique in the college student’s life. There is no other sport which presents this chance to you!

And too, we will of course be talking about SDSU’s program with regard to the particulars = How much time it takes, when and where practices will be, the costs to the student-athlete …………. and about the amazing history of San Diego State Men’s Crew = About our local, regional, and even National Championships … about the 13 members of our program who have gone on to earn places on United States of America National Teams, and – even – about trips to the West Coast Championships in Sacramento, to National Championships back East, and even to the Henley Royal Regatta in England = something that has been a staple in our sport for two centuries!

If you are an interested student-athlete, then you have two things to do; First, CLICK BELOW and fill out the interest form that you will find on our Recruitment Page. Second, attend one of the meetings to be held on campus – all to be held at the AMC Meetings Rooms, located just outside of the front doors of the ARC – adjacent to Viejas Arena.

Times for the Meetings:

29 August (Thursday), at 5 P.M.

6 September (Friday) at 4:30 P.M.

9 September (Monday) at 4:30 P.M.

While attending any of these meetings will avail the recruit of the information necessary to begin with the team, we encourage recruits to attend the first meeting and, thus, start rowing as soon as possible!!!!!!
