This weekend, your San Diego State Aztecs begin their spring season at the 2017 Gruenberg Cup. The team has been working hard both on and off the water in order to prepare themselves physically and mentally for this season. They are more than ecstatic to kick it off by racing USC and Long Beach State this Sunday morning! This year, SDSU will be hosting the event at Mission Bay. The races will occur in Sea World Channel (in between Fiesta Island and Sea World at the south end of the bay). For the best spectator location, one should line the shores of Fiesta Island or stand on South Ingraham Street Bridge. There will be an awards ceremony at Bahia Hotel following the races. SDSU will be fielding a JV8, a Varsity 8, a Varsity 4, a Novice 8A, a Novice 8B, and a Novice 4. The race schedule is posted below!
We would also like to take this opportunity to promote our annual Strive Campaign! The Strive Campaign is put on every year through SDSU and its alumni foundation. Last year, the team raised over $2000 by reaching out to friends, family, and alumni. This year, the funds donated to the team through the Strive Campaign will help the team afford the trip to the annual WIRA Championships in April and even the Pacific Coast Rowing Championships in May. For more information, please click on the link below to find out what the team is all about, what our goals are this season, and what the Strive Campaign Funds will be going towards. As always, we thank you for your continued love and support! We hope to see as many of you out there as possible this coming Sunday!
